Keir Starmer breaks 'Hillsborough Law' pledge on 36th anniversary

The Prime Minister failed to live up to his promise to introduce legislation, which it is hoped will include a legal duty of candour on public authorities, before this year’s anniversary of the tragedy, which took place at the FA Cup semi-final on April 15, 1989.

On Tuesday, campaigners said they remained “in the dark” about the legislation on the 36th anniversary of the disaster – a stadium crush in Sheffield that killed 97 Liverpool fans due to overcrowding and police mismanagement.
